Mathew Rondinone - President
Mathew is a Operations and Reporting Analyst for Foresters Financial. Having only joined the insurance industry in 2015, he completed his ACS and FLMI within 8 months, and went on to pursue the AIRC and ARA over the next year. Mathew has a thorough understanding of the operations involved in a multi-national insurance company with experience leading and working on cross functional projects. Mathew has always been committed to pursuing further education, and is currently in a Bachelor of Commerce degree program at Ryerson University. He is on track to complete the 4 year degree by 2019 by use of online and night classes. He is looking forward to growing the educational and networking capacity of the Society.
Shirley Munion – Vice President and Chair, Nominating Commitee
Shirley is an Assistant Vice President with a major reinsurance company and has held her position for 12 years. Shirley began her career in a small insurance company and has been in the industry for over 30 years. Shirley has her FLMI, ACS and ARA designations. She is passionate about reinsurance and is keen to network with fellow professionals and make new friends too. She looks forward to working with the LOMA Board towards a strong and positive Society.
Christine Arezzi - Vice President
Christine is currently the National Operations, Training and Process Solutions Manager for PPI, a national insurance marketing organization. She is responsible for the Operations Training for PPI employees across Canada and leads a team of Business Specialists working on PPI’s systems and processes. Prior to joining PPI, Christine worked as a Life Underwriter and also as a Living Benefits Sales Manager. She holds her Certificate in Adult Education, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, and Associate, Customer Service (ACS) designation, as well as FLMI and FALU designations and her Life Insurance License. As a member of the Institute for Performance and Learning, Christine regularly attends their webinars to stay on top of changes in the training world. She lives in Toronto with her husband and young son, and in her spare time enjoys reading, especially books and magazines related to interior design and fashion.
Parjinder Kambo – Treasurer
Par is a Senior Business Analyst with RBC Life Insurance Company. She has been in the insurance industry for over 25 years. Par has completed multiple designations including the FLMI, ACS, ARA, AFSI and HIA. Incidentally, Par was the Treasurer with the former GTA LOMA Society. She is also a member of RAPA, and she participates in multiple RAPA’s committee initiatives.
Melvyn (Mel) D'Souza - Past President
Mel has over 30 years of international life insurance industry experience, primarily in Canada but also including Hong Kong, India, the Philippines and Australia, covering the functional areas of information technology, internal auditing, accounting, compliance, project management, investment operations and treasury operations. Mel is a believer in life-long education and is working towards a Doctorate in Business Administration from Athabasca University. He has Masters’ degrees in Business Administration and in Information Technology as well as an Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science and Mathematics. He also has his CPA, CGA designations and holds several industry related designations including the FLMI, FLHC, FALU, and PCS designations. This mix of functional and jurisdictional experience, along with his educational background, has given Mel a unique perspective on participants in the global life insurance industry, along with a robust understanding of products and distribution channels, as well as the issues, challenges and opportunities in the industry.

Jacqui Davis - Program Chair
Jacqui is currently a Senior Insurance Operations Analyst at Foresters Financial. She is responsible for supporting the various business units within Operations with system enhancements, projects, and analysis. Jacqui started her insurance career at Foresters 15 years ago as a Service Centre Representative, and since then has held progressive roles as a Case Manager, and Team Leader for the New Business and Contracting Teams.
Mackenzie Gervais - Executive Coordinator and Secretary
Mackenzie is currently an Agency Administrator for PPI, a national insurance marketing organization. She is responsible for contracting advisors with PPI and with insurance carriers, and ensuring both parties get the best service and guidance. Prior to joining PPI, Mackenzie worked as a Contracting Administrator, among other roles, at Foresters Financial. She holds her Certificate in 911 communications, is active in APCO Canada and is working on completing her LOMA 291. As a member of the Charity Committee at PPI, Mackenzie regularly participates in events and meetings to help benefit the community, and raise money for local charities.
Ashraf Shehab - Membership Chair
Ash is currently a senior operations processor, policy and client services for La Capitale Financial Security, Ash began his career in one of the leading insurance companies globally “Allianz”, with over 8 years of international life and disability insurance industry experience, he held different positions on Sales, Sales Support, Agency Services, New Business, Brokerage support. This gave him the chance to become very knowledgeable of the industry. Ash has completed the FLMI level 1 and working towards ACS & ALMI.
He is pursuing MBA Degree at Hult international business school. Ash believes in the greater good and to give back to the community, he’s an active Lion member on Streetsville Area – Mississauga.
Lisa Wong – Technology Chair
Lisa currently serves as the Society's Technology Chair, and previously served as the Society's Communication and Technology Chair (2017-2018) and Membership Chair (2016-2017).
Lisa works as the Operations Manager with Penmore Financial Group Inc. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Toronto (with a specialization in English). She currently has her ALMI designation, and will be pursuing her FLMI designation. Lisa has enjoyed working in the insurance industry for the past 10 years! When she’s not working, she’s busy chasing after her two kids. She also enjoys volunteering her time to various causes, and giving back to her community.
Lara Zaylah – Audit Committee Chair
Lara is currently a Senior Audit Manager responsible for Audits (excluding IT) across Canada, US and UK at Foresters Financial.
Lara has over 14 years of progressive experience in the insurance industry spanning various roles, including but not limited to; Enterprise Risk Management, Fraud, Internal controls, and Internal Audit services. She started her career as an Auditor at Ernst & Yonge LLP and moved to PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) before joining Foresters Financial in 2011.
Lara believes in the value of further education and is a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) candidate, and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration majoring in Banking and Finance from Notre Dame University. She also holds a Management-Co-Chair position and is a certified member of the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee at Foresters Financial.
